Jungle Concrete
Nature spirit Mother Nature and business tycoon Biz Ness fight for the title of mayor in this climate change themed city builder prototype.
About the project
Jungle Concrete was made in approximately three weeks for a prototyping class. I was an artist on my team of five; the other members were Mitchell Young, Alex Koeberl, Tommy Roberts, and Oliver Creighton.
Jungle Concrete is a city builder that focuses on the struggle to switch to clean energy within a capitalist world. The narrative of the game is that there are two candidates battling for the title of mayor over your city – it’s Mother Nature, representative of clean energy, versus Biz Ness, tycoon of fossil fuels. The gameplay involves choosing to build either factory buildings or plant buildings in order to sway the outcome of the votes to the corresponding candidate, all while making enough income to win the game at all.
On this project, I was in charge of drawing the sprites for the factories, candidate base buildings, and the town hall, as well as Mother Nature’s character profiles and the ground tilemap. I also created the ending splash screens and the title screen art.
