Banana Split

This banana has been tragically sliced in half!  Puzzle your way through an abandoned jungle laboratory in order to reunite the halves of this unfortunate fruit.

About the project

Banana Split was made in two weeks for a prototyping class.  I was an artist on my team of five; the other members were Mitchell Young, Anna Miller, Thomas Revord, and Oliver Creighton.  Banana Split is a humorous puzzle game featuring a split banana drawn in a cartoony, Cuphead-inspired art style.

On this project, I was in charge of character design and animation as well as some of the tilemap sprites.

In the game, the player controls the top half of the banana with WASD and the bottom half of the banana with the arrow keys.  These two halves have different ways of interacting with the environment; the top half can push buttons and climb vines, and the bottom half can move boxes and jump.  As a result, I created several different animations for both halves to provide the correct feedback to the player.  I was in charge of all character animations in this project.

Tile Sprites

The specific tiles I created are the midground wall and floor tiles, as well as the acid tiles, pictured individually on the left.  I also decorated the background of the tutorial and level one (pictured right) using some of the beautiful foliage sprites that Anna Miller created.
